Banco Masters Scandal: Its Impact on Rule of Law, Democracy and the Independence of the Judiciary

Participants will hear from the lead defense attorney, Davi Tangerino about the Banco Masters Scandal, the largest legal/political investigation into the CEO’s of two of the largest banks in Brazil, Banco Master and Bank Regional Brazilia (BRB), and their business dealings which lead to investigations into some of the highest ranking government officials and Justices in Brazil and its impact on the Rule of Law, Democracy and the Independence of the Judiciary. We will use this case to frame a discussion on the global conversation of a lawyer’s role in protecting the rule of law and democracy.
